Jefferson Davis Memorial Site State Park

Jefferson Davis State Historic Site is a memorial to the famous Kentuckian born on this site on June 3,1808.Although Davis was well-known for his service as President of the Confederacyduring the Civil War,he was actually a reluctant secessionist.

The 351-foot monument to Davis constructed on this site marks Davis' birthplace and rests on a foundation of solid Kentucky limestone. In 1907 the Orphans Brigade of the Confederate Army,General Simon Boliver Buckner,a famous Confederate general from Kentucky,proposed that a monument be built to honor Jefferson Davis at the site of his birthplace. The monument was conpleted in 1924.(information provided by Kentucky Parks Dept.)

Other families lived on this farm location after the Davis family moved to Louisiana. One such family was the Kenner/Carpenter families. Their family graveyard is located in the park. This is a very small well kept graveyard to the left of the monument. The family homeplace was at one time located to the right of the monument,which is indicated by a low ground area pointed out to us by personel there.This family still wanders the grounds of the park.

Temperature readings were 81.8 degrees at approximately 8:00p.m. CST. Clear skies.

Full moon, High cell sensor readings found around northwest corner of park where first evp was captured.

At 8:00 pm E.S.T.part of our team did a walkthrough of the area checking for any Emf readings(electro magnetic fields) that were not from electrical sources while the rest of the team worked in the graveyard documenting names and dates and any verses or sayings on the headstones in the graveyard there. We also diagramed the graveyard  and the park. The team member checking for emf was not allowed to see the markings on the headstones or documentations pertaining to it. That team member does dowsing so we did not want his impressions altered in anyway.

High readings were picked up in the far northwest corner of the park. The temperature documented was 81.8 degrees. The readings were picked up all along the front of the park area.

Our team set up video cameras by the graveyard area and started audio recordings as well.

Our dowser started dowsing in the area where the graveyard was with his back to it and he was facing towards the monument. He asked if there was anyone there who would like to communicate with us and we got a crossing of the rods which meant yes. We asked them to lead us to the area in which we could talk with them best and maybe get a picture of them and we were led to a sunken area on the other side of the monument.(we were previously told that this is where one of the homes originally stood). We ended up in that area and when asked how many spirits were there we got that there were 5. The one that was communicating with us told us through yes and no questions that she was buried in the graveyard there. I asked her age and through questioning we got the age 13 and did not have her name at that moment. We asked the names of the others there with her from the names on the list and we got yes on her brother, but she wanted us to go to the graveyard to show us where she was buried. We told her to point the dowsing rods in the direction she wanted us to go and she led us to the graveyard and then crossed the rods over a broken headstone(which was one of the two that were broken and had no markings except a couple roman numerals on one of them )and that is where she said she was buried. We then asked if her last name was Kenner and she said yes. Then by going through the alphabet we found out her first name started with an E. through questioning we got that it was Elizabeth or maybe Edith she crossed on both. We asked did she want to go to heaven and she said yes. We did a prayer with her and all felt the fastest coldest wind we had ever experienced and we asked if she was still with us and got no response. We believe that she had crossed over to the other side. During this moment the temperature had been 74 degrees and had dropped in that spot to 50 degrees and went back up to 74 degrees.

Our team walked throughout the park and went to the front area where the high emf readings had been and tried to see if anyone would communicate with us. There was no answers. We had a feeling that there was a young boy around us and followed him throughout the front drive area around the trees (see orb pictures). We then proceeded to the monument for some evp work and pictures. During this time I saw a confederate soldier in full dress uniform standing at the top of the stairs next to the door area as if guarding it, and then he was gone. One other member saw the same thing except he saw only the shadow beside him in that very spot. I contacted Mr. Doss a couple days later and asked him was at anytime were their “guards” posted at the monument? Not disclosing what I had seen. He told me that every year during the anniversary of the monument that there is an reenactment and there are full dressed confederate soldiers posted there. I then disclosed to him what I had seen.

We later communicated with a young boy while dowsing who said he was 10 years old and that his last name was Kenner. He answered through our dowsing that he was buried in the same place the young girl said she was buried. We asked had the gravestones been moved by mistake and he answered yes.

When we investigated the family history we discovered that Martha had a 13 year old daughter named Edith and a 10 year old son named Andrew J.

During our investigation we came in contact with a young boy who was playing around the trees. This picture shows our investigator following who he felt was the young boy .See the orb in front of him in the tree? All the pictures we took while this was going on had the same orb in it all the way up the drive area.
